President Bush visited a primary school. One of the classes were
in the middle of a discussion on words and their meanings. The
teacher asked president bush would he like to lead the class in
their discussion on the word and the meaning of "tragedy".
So the illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a
tragedy.
One little boy stood up and offered "if my friend who lives on
a farm was playing in the field and the tractor runs over him
and kills him that would be a tragedy."
"No" Said Bush 'that would be an accident'
A girl put up her hand "if a school bus carrying 50 children went
over a cliff and killed all the children that would be a tragedy"
'no' said Bush 'that would be a great loss'
The room went silent. No other children volunteered any other
examples.
Is there anyone else who can give me an example of a tragedy Mr
Bush asked
Finally one little boy at the back of the room put up his hand.
In a very quiet voice he said ' If Air Force One carrying Mr Bush
was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile, and crashed and killed
Mr Bush that would be a great tragedy"
Brilliant' exclaimed Bush 'and can you tell me why that would
be a Tragedy?'
Well said the boy it has to be a tragedy because it certainly
wouldnt be a great loss and it probably wouldnt be an accident
either!
